How we check figures
Every number on this site comes from one rates file. Each entry has its value, the tax year, the ATO page it came from and the date it was last checked. The calculators, tables and text all read from that file, so figures are drawn from one place and are much less likely to disagree between pages.
Sources
- Primary sources only: ato.gov.au pages for tax rates, super thresholds, study loans, the Medicare levy surcharge and termination payments.
- Each page lists its sources, numbered, with links.
- The full rates file is public at /rates and as rates.json.
Checks
- Before a calculator goes live, its figures and rules are checked against the live ATO pages by an AI reviewer separate from the one that built it, alongside a technical check and a design check on desktop and mobile. The site owner approves every change before it is published. We are not tax agents, and no registered tax professional reviews the figures.
- Every week, the published rates are compared with the ATO pages. A difference is fixed before anything else.
- When a figure changes, the "last checked" date on each page moves with it.
Rates last checked: 29 October 2026.
What the calculators leave out
Each calculator lists its assumptions and what it does not model under "How we calculate". Most assume a single Australian resident for the full year. Results are estimates of tax, not advice.
